I often get these questions, so I figured having this page to either send people to (or even better if people read them before reaching out to me).

Q: Are you open to speaking engagements, podcasts, and/or interviews?

A: Yes, I think this is important.

Q: What is the best way to reach you?

A: Email is preferred. I usually check around 8 a.m. Eastern time and 4 p.m. Eastern time. If I have not responded to an inquiry within a week, feel free to resend your message.

Q: Are you currently on the academic job market?

A: I am not on the market for any other post-doctoral opportunities. I am open to consulting and collaboration opportunities. If your department is hiring for an assistant professor position and you think I am a good fit, I am happy to discuss. My current desire is to pursue an academic position, but I am open to other arrangements if they align with my values and work.

Q: Do you have any advice for applying to a Ph.D. program or a general overview of your experience?

A: I wrote an extended essay about this on my blog. It is available on Substack here for free. Please read it in full before reaching out about meeting. If you have additional questions, email is usually the best first step.

Q: Can you send me your previous grant proposals?

A: If it is ongoing work, no. For work that has been completed, I am happy to, as long as you do not redistribute it without my permission.

Q: Are you taking on any mentees?

A: I traditionally have not engaged in any cold-call-style mentor-mentee relationships. I have met a number of great mentees and collaborators through organizations like the American Heart Association, IAPHS, and other places I have been affiliated. Usually, I prefer to work with people through existing collaborations. Time permitting, I am happy to point you in the direction of resources (and people when appropriate) whom I think could be helpful.
